What a pleasure for me! I was asked to create a painting and… Ta da! to make it something different for me other than a landscape or floral. This client already had a significant collection of both types of my paintings.

I had a ball creating this piece. In fact the experience was one of the most sublime I have ever felt. I consider this commissioned piece to also be one of my ‘Special Vision Pieces’.

It shows my desire to combine all the kinds of painting styles I enjoy doing, which includes impressionism, a little detail work, and pure expressionistic painting.

It is an oil painting on canvas which is stretched onto a frame made of wooden hand-rail stock. I especially enjoyed painting around the edges of the rounded frame with pure whimsy and joy.

The whole piece is large, 72 inches tall by 60 inches wide, so that when one is in a room with it one can get lost in its presence. It sparks strong reactions. It seems people either don’t get it or they really love it. I hope that means it is a success if it gets people thinking.

Here are some detail photos that feature the round edges of the painted canvas frame. - G.P.L.
