Wild Life At Home
Ken and I have been a couple since 1981. For our January 1982 ‘Honeymoon’ we skied up to a 9,000 foot ghost town in the wilderness back side of the Boulder Mountains just north of Ketchum and Sun Valley. I barely knew how to ski but it was one of our many amazing adventures in our Wood River Valley home in Idaho.
The photos here give just a glimpse of some of our activities and the myriad of animals that have come to our house or across our paths.
One can see the lovely settings that surround us and even a few that have been painted directly into my landscape paintings.
My portraits of my animal ‘soul-spirit-friends’ have often made their way into my work as well. Here are some photos of these friends.
As I mention often, activities like horseback riding, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, white-water and sea-kayaking, plus scuba diving and snorkeling have taken me to so many places that provide inspirations for me to paint. Below here are a few more photos of my favorite experiences in our Wood River Valley. –G.P.L.
